Joy to the World

Poetry is not a container for ideas, rather it pokes holes in our containers to allow the ideas to get out and be felt. In this episode of our Deep Dive podcast, Brad, Dan, and Chris take a look at the famous Christmas song and inspiration for our December 2021 Christmas teaching series "Joy to the World."
- What does poetry do in us that propositional truth can't?
- Why is singing Christmas songs so important for the people of God?
- What shaping effect does singing this song have on the church?
- How can Christmas songs be good opportunities for evangelism?
They tackle these questions and more.

Relational Transformation
Sunday Nov 21, 2021
Sunday Nov 21, 2021
Joey Tribbiani once said "There's no such thing as a selfless good deed."
In this episode of the Deep Dive, Brad and Terry discuss Galatians 6:1-10. After describing the Fruit of the Spirit in the life of the individual believer, Paul turns his attention to the community, characterizing what this fruit looks like in the context of relationships.
Some of the questions they hit on are: What does it look like to be spiritual? What does it look like to fulfill the law of Christ (even though we are free from the burden of the OT law)? Why is it so difficult to let others help us? And, what is the relationship between faith and good works? They discuss these questions and more.
They end the episode by previewing Calvary's teaching calendar for 2022.

The Holy Spirit‘s Transformation
Sunday Nov 14, 2021
Sunday Nov 14, 2021
In this episode of the Deep Dive, Brad, Terry, and Ben talk through Galatians 5:16-26. Why is understanding the Holy Spirit and recognizing when he's working so difficult? In this section of Galatians, Paul instructs his readers about the fruit of the Spirit and contrasts the fruit of the Spirit with a list of vices.
This episode also includes a new segment called "Ask the Pastor." What is "the Day of the Lord" in Revelation 1:7? What are the implications for this verse for us today? Tune in to hear their discussion.
